We are a recovery house located in Murrells Inlet, SC.
We are a 12-step based recovery house working on breaking the chains of addiction and alcoholism. The 12 steps allow us to work on the internal struggles we have and make changes for the better. We learn how to give back rather than to take. In our disease we are typically so self consumed and unaware of our behaviors and actions as well as the harm we have caused others. We will be working on becoming better versions of ourselves rather than continuing in our sickness. We have lived in delusion to some extent and now it's time to break the chains.
Our Phase I program is an intense 45-day of "blackout" time. This means you will immerse yourself in recovery without the distractions of this world. You will not have access to a personal vehicle, cell phone, video games, weapons or personal computer/Ipad.

I started drinking and using at 12 yrs old. By 15, I was in my first rehab. I’ve been to several places for help but I honestly wasn't going for actual help. I went because of the law or to stay in good graces with my family but never being able to identify with others nor giving myself an opportunity to live a better life. I continued to live this way until I was 38. I’ve been to jail a lot, I’ve been to prison and at the end of my use i was pretty much homeless. I finally felt pain and hopelessness. I was so delusional and unaware of how I was living and wanted to die. I called my mom one night for help and she gave me a man's number to call. I had no idea who he was but I called. That man shared his experience. strength and hope with me and I was finally able to identify. Hearing his story gave me Hope. He and several of his selfless friends made arrangements for me to go away to get help. That man told me to hang in there little buddy and WE will get you some help and they did! By God’s grace I’ve been sober since 9/10/15! The life I have today I would have never thought possible. The relationships I have today are amazing. I have peace and serenity in my life. By others helping and guiding me and following the suggestions I'm no longer hopeless nor miserable. Miracles do happen and there is HOPE! WE want to carry the message of HOPE! I get to walk with a purpose today and it's a blessing! I want to do for others what was selflessly done for me. I am able pay it forward through Broken Chains Recovery.

I started using somewhere in my early teenage years. Most of my family is in recovery, prison, or died from the disease of addiction. I was blessed to grow up in recovery meetings where my father would carry me around to. Despite the efforts the disease was something I was born with and after many run-ins with the law and a prison stint I was at a point where I was willing to finally take a suggestion. After asking for help I was advised to go to a 12-step program in Sumter South Carolina where I got clean and sober in my early 20’s. The program we provide is very similar; a place where I could learn about myself and create a relationship with God through working on my behaviors and mindset that was blocking me from having a connection with him. I also learned basic life skills from the men there that helped me. It was a community of men that were all working together to get clean and sober and find a new way of life. These men showed me how to continue this way of life as I returned home & to continue my service to God and my fellow man. This is what has led to the formation of Broken Chains Recovery as we know it now. It is a clean and sober community of men working on themselves through the 12-step program that is tried and true. I am truly blessed for every opportunity granted of chance to help another struggling addict or alcoholic.
